Cooking Italian… or at least trying

I went back to cooking recently. Prepared a full Italian meal for Mox. The works! This even if things were stacked against me. 1) The last time I cooked a full meal was maybe 3 or so years back. 2) Italian (or European Cuisine in general) has never been my strong suit. 3) I have been too lazy to do any cooking for the past few months, and this… a seven course meal… is definitely going to push me to my limits.

I won’t get into the details of my ordeal. I want the menu and the photos to speak for themselves. Please tell me what you think.

Antipasti
(Three course appetizer)
Prosciutto e Melone
Sliced cooked ham with melon balls

Bruschetta
Traditional french bread bruschetta with fresh basil

Sicilian Orange Salad
Waldman Lettuce with chicken breast flakes, walnuts, and mandarin oranges served with organic herb dressing

Primi Patti
The first set of courses. A pasta dish, soup, or risotto served in a bowl.
Fusilli Marinara
Fresh clams, shrimp, and squid sauteed in extra virgin olive oil, served on a bed of fusilli and topped with a fresh tomato, basil, and mushroom sauce

Secundi Patti
The main course. Usually a meat or fish dish served with vegetable sidings.
Pollo Valdostano
My version of the classic entree. Chicken fillet seared in butter and baked with pastrami slices and cheese. Topped with an herb-mushroom sauce.

Asparago e Patata con Olio
Fresh asparagus and cherry potatoes sauteed in basil, garlic, and extra virgin olive oil

Dolci
Sweet endings. Traditional italian meals end with good deserts and a good dessert wine to cleanse the palette.
No picture available Mandarin Oranges in ice
Seedless mandarin orange wedges in an ice bath

Italian Wine
Sweet italian white dessert wine.
